CHARACTER

Name: Iris
Canon: Pokemon
Gender: Female
Age: 10
Wing Color: Dark purple, like her hair

Canon Point: Decolora Adventures Episode 19: Until the Day We Meet Again
Canon Point Explanation: Latest point, end of her era as a main character, on-screen character development arc completed.
History: If you want a mind-numbing level of detail, you can read my previous Iris application here. If you want a short and reasonable account of her history, view her Bulbapedia page here.

Personality: Iris is, despite what she might say, very much a child; she's very temperamental and her mood changes quite easily and often. She can be angry and yelling one second, content and smiling the next.

She is quick to anger, but just as quick to forgive, so long as no one has been badly hurt. However, she will not easily forgive those who harm the weak; she hates cruel trainers who abuse their Pokemon in particular, to the point that she is very quick to demand justice and punishment (rather fitting for the protege of the Spartan Mayor Shaga).

Iris is very curious about the world she lives in and all of the people and Pokemon she meets throughout her journey. She comes across as a bit simple-minded and easily pleased, but she isn't dull, not at all. She's quite clever and is often the source of snarky commentary, particularly when Satoshi acts too much like your run-of-the-mill rash and hotblooded protagonist or when Dent is being particularly sparkly and overly-dramatic. She doesn't do it to be mean, though, and though she might go beyond her limits, she's quick to make it up to her friends if it really affects them (in other words, her disparaging comments are the only thing that can put an end to Dent's dramatics, if he isn't too caught up in himself to hear her, and they can prompt him to huddle in a corner, despairing over her calling him "a pain" or "annoying").

She easily picks up on things her friends (particularly Satoshi) miss. Her wisdom is simply more of an innocent and wild, honed by her experiences living in the forest; for example, she can sense approaching storms by reading the sky and sensing the wind, much like Pokemon do. She understands a lot about life, if not very much about things like schools or trains and other city-life fixtures. For example, she is careful not to disturb wild Pokemon so they won't run away, knows which fruits and berries to eat, and how to make ointments out of wild plants and herbs. She also doesn't mind eating her food raw, unlike her friend Dent, who would rather cook and serve elegant dishes.

Despite this, she can be prideful, evidenced by her rage at being mistaken for a Pokemon and her constant teasing of Satoshi and insistence that she was leading him around, especially earlier on.

She can also be impulsive herself at times, particularly when those dear to her are threatened, and does not care what happens to her as long as she can keep her friends and Pokemon safe.

But if someone else devises a convincing plan to accomplish an end, she is smart enough to follow it, such as when Satoshi devised a plan to rescue her Kibago from a rampaging wild Pokemon.

Iris also has a habit of squealing over any Pokemon she finds cute and can't help poking and prodding at it, which often leads to her getting attacked, but this habit has been toned down as of late (she still blushes and squeals over awesome Dragon Type Pokemon, though!). She has this same casual disregard for personal space with humans, leaning over Satoshi while talking to him despite his obvious surprise at the sudden closeness. Presently, Dent is her usual target (which is just as well because he's pretty invasive of other people's personal space, particularly Satoshi's) and Iris frequently clings to Dent when she's frightened too, even if others are just as close... or, rather amusingly, even if Dent happens to be carrying something that frightens her, he's still the go-to cling-for-comfort companion.

Iris gets along with Satoshi, occasionally bickering with him, because they're similarly childish and impulsive. Iris connects with Dent due to the fact that, in spite of her childish traits, she's still more mature and level-headed than Satoshi typically is and with Dent being the most responsible and level-headed of the trio (provided none of his hobbies are brought up, of course) and because they're often watching Satoshi on the sidelines, they get along quite well... their opposing personalities and methods work in good harmony, except for one thing: Dent is a Science Sommelier and Iris is spiritual and rather superstitious. She believes in the existence ghosts and curses, while Dent scoffs at them and is quick to think up scientific explanations to explain away all seemingly paranormal phenomena.

He doesn't insult her intelligence for it, although she does get quite angry when he doesn't believe her. The incident in which this difference between them is spotlighted comes to a conclusion to was in-between: it wasn't the work of a vengeful spirit's curse per se, nor were they all coincidences easily explained away with science. They were the actions of a Ghost Type Pokemon.

Her social interactions might be strained due to her rather straightforward manner of speaking ("They're all annoying, let's just walk away."), but she is normally very friendly to people who haven't earned her ire. Oh, but if they have... she will do everything possible to ruin their day, even if it means getting both her male friends to crossdress in fancy, frilly Takarazuka costumes to gain access into a Flower Troupe's quarters and challenge them to a most humiliating revenge battle!

... yeah, just don't anger the little dragon lady and she'll spare you of everything except her occasional frequent sarcastic comments.

Iris is very much a free spirit and has a tendency to run off on her own, preferring to explore and rest on tree branches if necessary, so she might not be expected to return to the same room everyday. It takes a while before she starts to spend all her time with Satoshi and Dent, because she was previously accustomed to being alone with Kibago on her journey. She also used to be very secretive and withdrawn, if you'd believe! She's now very much an open book to Satoshi and Dent because she trusts them fully.

Iris has a pretty big appetite, able to shovel a great deal of food into her mouth in a way near identical to Satoshi. When Dent brings up this similarity, both Satoshi and Iris react in indignant anger at his suggestion that they are anything alike.

Overall, Iris is clever, strong, sarcastic, curious, loyal, vengeful if wronged, spiritual, and a very good friend despite her penchant for playful teasing.

Strengths (Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: She is a ten-year-old-female-ninja-Tarzan.

If you can't see the gifs, I'll sum them up: Iris swinging from vines in a forest and jumping out of the way of flying sludge/mudballs to land elegantly on one foot onto a fence-post, while both her male companions get hit in the face by the attacks.

Iris is athletic and agile. She can catch fish with her bare hands! She also enjoys great physical endurance, having spent much of her childhood learning to fight from Pokemon. Needless to say, she can fight Pokemon herself! But, she is still human and cannot protect herself from being badly injured by elemental or otherwise supernatural attacks, so don't set her on fire or crush her with psychic power, please!
Mental: although her intellect is largely experience and instinct-based, she possesses a degree of psychic power. She is an empath when it comes to Dragons, although her skills are still raw and somewhat unreliable, she is honing them and they match her game title of being The Girl Who Understands the Hearts of Dragons. With a touch, Dragons can pass on to her their emotions and memories. Recently, it has begun to occur even without physical contact, however, this skill requires clarity of mind and will fail if she's preoccupied with her own thoughts. (This is shown in her capture of Dragonite-- while the police wish to detain it as a dangerous Pokemon, she makes an effort to understand it and treat it with kindness... when she touches Dragonite his memories and the reason for his "rampage" become known to her. Another example is when Axew passes on his memories to Iris of the misunderstanding with Emolga in the episode where she seemingly joins Team Rocket). She is otherwise perfectly normal.
She is quite brave and will face her fears if something important is on the line.
Emotional: She is practically a mother to her Axew, so she can be very patient, kind, nurturing, and understanding. She will try to put on a brave front, even if she is close to tears, such as when she said goodbye to the Deino she took care of and slowly drew out of its shell until its trainer's return. She will not back down if someone does something she believes to be wrong and will not hesitate to speak her mind: abusive and neglectful people will see Iris at her worst (this can be a fault, but really, her strong sense of justice is to be expected when she's the protege of the Spartan Mayor!). This is shown in the scene where she demanded that Tepig's old trainer be thrown in jail without trial, which Cilan deems unfair, but is quite understandable as the boy bound his Pokemon with a rope and abandoned it... when it tried to get loose, the rope wound up around its snout and rendered it incapable of feeding itself, leaving it to slowly starve!
Okay, a scene where she shows her composure better is the one where the Deino's trainer finally returns, days after he said he would. Iris had been consoling the lonely Deino and reassuring it its trainer would return, but she was starting to doubt it herself, when he finally shows up! She tears into him, shouting about his irresponsibility, until she realizes it's not him and quietly backs off. When the real trainer shows up and turns out to have been injured, she immediately forgives him and passes Deino back to him and gently bids it farewell, hiding her sadness at their parting.
She is very friendly! If you treat her politely and don't do anything too cocky or obnoxious, she'll be very polite!

Weaknesses
Physical: Cold and Ice. Dragon Types are weak against Ice Types! Aside from that, exposure to either of those will make Iris shiver all over, cause her hair to become frizzy and even poofier, and prompt her to hide behind/cling to Cilan. If she's going somewhere where she'll expect them, she will wear full winter gear, even if everyone around her isn't. I think the only amount of ice Iris will behave reasonably around is about the same amount you'd put in a glass. xD;
Mental: Can you say schoolwork? Long, verbose books will confuse her to no end or simply put her to sleep. She can read and write, but typically only simple, childish sentences. Don't expect her to be very well-versed in things that require formal schooling, she ran away from the Opelucid Academy as a very young child because she couldn't acclimate to city life, missed the pure scent of her village, and all her Pokemon friends. If it's something that can be passed down orally, like history, she has a good memory for that, but don't expect her to know much about the sciences or things you won't find in her village home (Cilan, your train talk is too much).
Emotional: She is prone to emotional outbursts when angry. She is very much influenced by her environment and those in it, so if she's dealing with a particularly childish person? She will go into full-blown name-calling and teasing! She will behave in an unbelievably childish manner. A good example would be any scene where she fights with her rival Georgia. At one point, she grabs Luke's Zorua, while she's transformed as Georgia's form (Luke's Zorua is female and loves any chance to transform into human females, because Luke usually makes her transform into males xD;;), and starts to puppeteer her while changing her voice to make it look like Georgia's admitting that Iris is soooo much better than she is, she could NEVER hope to beat her~~~ or something while Georgia watches. Like I said, it's all ridiculously childish stuff.
She can be such a brat, even to those who are close to her. Actually, if you're particulalry close to her, she'll probably be even meaner to you (poor Cilan, no one can harsh your "it's ____ time!" quite like Iris).

Aaaand I somehow forgot that even though I recall knowing it (I think it's because one of the application-related pages mentioned something about a pet in singular, so I was like "oh, no, she can only have one!")

Here you go! ♥ She'll have Axew, Emolga, and Dragonite! Two powerful dragons and a flirtatious, lazybones, gluttonous sugar glider. x3

Axew:

Personality: Think of a very small, highly inquisitive child, about four or five years old. That is Axew's personality in a nutshell. He is very curious about the world, but not very knowledgeable and far too trusting— this gets him into a lot of trouble!

Because Iris was the first creature he saw, he imprinted on her as a mother and his opinions and reactions will very often match hers, without any special effort to emulate.

He hides inside her hair and frequently rests there.

While he is very strong now, much stronger than he was in the beginning of their story, when he could not hold his own in battle, he still remains an unworldly child and will not question things that older Pokemon and people would (a line of delicious berries on the otherwise spotless deck of a ship, suspiciously trailing off to an unseen place? Free snacks, yum, let's dig in!) and his logic is likewise simple. The anime illustrates his thought process in the style of a children's colouring book.

This is his idea of what would happen if he brought Emolga apples. They'd spin around in a flowery meadow, holding hands and then maybe she'd fall in love with him~ in reality, she just planned to take the apples and run, she flirts with everybody for food, it doesn't mean anything. That sums it up nicely, I think.

When Ash received Scraggy's egg, Iris told Axew he'll be Scraggy's big brother and this made Axew VERY happy. He was scared of how agressive Scraggy was when he first hatched, though, but soon came to adore him again. xD; He's been proudly looking after Scraggy as his "big bro" since then, but he has very childish fears: he once had a very exaggerated nightmare about a bratty Gothita (a very tiny, practically palm-sized Pokemon) growing ten feet tall and stealing away his little brother Scraggy and woke up crying.

Strengths (Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: Axew can scratch even through metal, but this takes a couple of tries. Axew's Dragon Rage is his most powerful attack, as well as the one that took the longest for him to perfect! It used to be so pitiful, Iris' friends dubbed it "Dragon Sneeze." He builds up glowing blue energy inside his body, then launches a massive dragon-shaped beam from his mouth at his opponents. It's quite damaging! He can also use Giga Impact that allows him to launch himself at his opponents while surrounded in energy that amplifies the force of the impact (this also requires to be built up for a bit beforehand, like Dragon Rage, so while both are powerful attacks, there is a time delay before their execution). Outrage is also a recently learned ability. Axew's eyes will glow red and he will thrash about, clawing, kicking, and striking all his power, but the rage clouds his mind and he won't know what he's doing or even if he's lashing out at an opponent or not.
Mental: ... he's a baby. ^^; Average toddler intelligence.
Emotional: ... again, baby! But he is quite mature when it comes to patching things up with others too. Seems like all of Iris' Pokemon best her at this trait. xD; They may be stubborn, but when it comes to admitting where they've gone wrong and apologizing, they're her betters. Axew even helps Iris patch things up with Ash after a fight, bringing her an apple to gift to Ash. Axew's very friendly in general and perceptive of other's feelings. If anyone is feeling sad or lonely, Axew does his best to make them feel better; in Axew-logic, this translates to gifts of wild berries and apples. Always.

Weaknesses ( Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: Aside from his powerful Dragon Rage, Axew, while fairly strong, is not Iris' strongest Pokemon.
Mental: Baby. His logic is childishly simple, works on the basis that everyone is who they appear to be, and he has some exaggerated fears.
Emotional: He cries a lot and is easily frightened. Also, he's easily tricked by false affection.

Emolga:

Personality: Flirtatious and manipulative. Fairly strong, but lazy. Looking like a very sweet and demure flying squirrel, she is a dual Flying and Electric Type. She made her first appearance using Attract to charm male Pokemon, before making off with their food. She is a good battler, but is a bit lazy and prefers to use her charms to make others bring her food. She initially deceived Axew so he would bring her food, but even after realizing what she was up to, he still decided to be kind to her and share his food with her. Emonga quickly took a liking to Iris and became her Pokemon without a battle.
She can be a bit manipulative and has a tendency to twist the truth to make other Pokemon feel sorry for her (and give her treats to make her feel better!), but she is good at heart, and shows this when she protects Iris and Kibago.

Emolga has a bit of a petty rivalry with Ash's Snivy as well and is prone to bickering with her; both are female Pokemon whose battling style relies on using Attract against male opponents, but Snivy also incredibly powerful and a very good battler aside from that; Emolga is lazy and her moveset is limited against female opponents, but Iris more than makes up for this with her clever strategies.

Emolga cares a lot about her appearance and likes to look pretty~ but she pretty much thinks she can rock any look, so it doesn't matter what you put on her. Even if it's a bright pink 'fro.

Strengths (Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: Like Axew, Emolga's moveset is mixed. She has one thing she does VERY well and a bunch of others she's so-so about, and then some other things she's really good at but just can't be bothered to put effort into them all the time. She's attractive and she knows it! Her Attract is irresistable to male Pokemon. She's also so charming and cute, she wins over humans rather easily too (as long as they're not paying enough attention to realize her intentions!).

She is so exceptionally lazy that Volt Switch (zap the opponent, go back in your pokeball and send someone else out) is something she likes to use, not as a last resort, but simply because she wants to throw battles onto other Pokemon. xD;;;;

She's an elegant flier (er, glider?) and has Static as an innate ability. What this means is if she doesn't like you? You touch her and there's a chance you could end up momentarily paralyzed. It's a very slim chance, but it could happen!

She is capable of using Discharge (she becomes covered in electricity and will fire off bolts at her opponent, giving them a good shock) and Hidden Power (she'll fire off balls of glowing green energy at her opponent... strong attack, but it also requires time to build up before using, leaving an opening if the opponent is fast).
Mental: She is very clever about getting out of work. Seriously, everything from her Static ability to her Volt Switch and Attract attacks are designed to get her out of problems without her having to do very much, now add her penchant for telling convincing sob stories to get whatever she wants (look, she'll even fake crying and look pitiful, roll in the dirt and make it look like she was the one who got hurt!).
When she's bein serious, though, she'll definitely be a good battler! She has great faith in Iris' abilities and will follow her orders, even if she's lazy on her own.

She is very clever, though, and is probably the smartest of Iris' Pokemon when it comes to coming up with her own complex plans (even if they can also be rather shortsighted); the problem, here, is just laziness.

Emotional: She has deception down to a fine art. She's also a convincing actress. She can cry at the drop of a hat! But, despite all of this, she has a genuinely good heart and cares for her trainer and other Pokemon. She doesn't really want to see anyone get hurt.

Weaknesses ( Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: Lazylazylazylazy. Also, limited moveset because she is lazy. Also, if you ground the electricity of her attacks, they're not gonna do a thing. Ground beats Electric!
Also, she will just eat and eat and eat and then eat your food too. xD;
Mental: There's nothing wrong with her mind, she's very sharp. All she lacks is motivation most of the time.
Emotional: She is not above deceiving her own trainer, though, and when Iris blames Emolga for delibrately causing Axew's head injury (which, to be fair, was an accusation Emolga was not guilty of!), Emolga comes up with a plan to pretend to join Team Rocket and then, after helping them "steal" Ash and friends' Pokemon, she will double-cross the Rockets, save the day and bring them back to their trainers, and Iris will be so proud~

Also. In her first appearance (from her wild-food-thief days), it really looked like Axew had his very first crush on her. And she took advantage of that so he'd get her more food. That was just plain mean, but that was how she treated everybody back then. ^^;

Dragonite:

Personality: Tsundere toughguy. Iris' Dragonite is a dual Dragon/Flying Type Pokemon who always wears a scowl and is rarely, if ever, upfront about feelings that don't basically amount to "let's you and me fight." Even when he wanted to be captured by Iris, he didn't flat-out say it, he just... kind of refused to leave and turned back, scowling at her and gritting his teeth like he expected her to intuitively understand that no, he doesn't want to leave, he wants to stay with her!

He is very proud and even after deeming Iris an acceptable trainer, he did not settle into his role as a trained Pokemon for a VERY long time. He kept disobeying orders, rather like Ash's Charizard used to do. He plunged headfirst into battles, regardless of whether Iris asked him to or not, simply because he lived for the challenge.

It would appear that he's violent and disrespectful, and this is... well, this is very true (his battle with Ash's similarly battle-loving and prideful Charizard nearly took a dangerous turn, before N stopped them), but Iris' Dragonite is not without kindness, as shown in the scenes where he taught a hapless Ampharos (Denryuu in the Japanese version, the "ryuu" linking it with dragons, despite typing) how to be more assertive and the whole reason he was injured in his first appearance? He was fightingwith a Hydreigon, but shifted his focus in order to protect a flock of Pidove that got caught in the crossfire, leaving an opening for the Hydreigon to attack. It was the fall that damaged his wing.

Eventually, he does grow more confident in Iris' abilities and respects her decisions more as a trainer, choosing to obey her. They frequently save each other's lives (he takes a blow that could have hit her at some ruins, maybe in the Meloetta arc... and she stood up against the police to keep him from being arrested for his "violent rampage" which only Iris knew the truth behind, about protecting those Pidove and his agression being due to an injured wing).

Strengths (Provide canon examples and include special powers/abilities as necessary. You may combine sections as needed, but remember to always be thorough.)
Physical: EVERYTHING. He is a powerhouse. Tough as nails. He can fly, punch with electricity (ThunderPunch), breathe fire (Flamethrower), breathe ice (Ice Beam), become enveloped in blue energy forming a giant dragon's silhouette and slam into opponents (Dragon Rush), and generally beat stuff up with brute strength.
Mental: He's fast on the uptake and can come to decisions very quickly too quickly sometimes. He's a surprisingly good teacher (if you understand Pokemon, anyway).
Emotional: Despite his childish avoidance of being upfront about his battle-unrelated feelings, he can take responsibility for his actions. He definitely shows regret when he realizes he hurt Clair's Dragonite by carelessly trampling a flower.... but this only after it nearly escalated into a full-blown battle which both trainers had to intervene into. ^^;

He is VERY loyal to his trainer and will protect her with his life, even at his most rebelious stage, and he has always been very protective of the weak. He might be agressive, but he will never torment someone weaker than him.

Clair's Dragonite and Iris', respectively!

And yes, that is his "regretful" expression. His brows always look like he's glaring

Weaknesses
Physical: Ice! Dragons are weak against Ice Type moves and although Dragonite will try to tough it out, his great strength will quickly be whittled down if his limbs are frozen or anything similar. He might be a bit sensitive around the base of his left wing. He can fly very well and it causes him no issues, but it was badly injured when Iris first met him, so he probably wouldn't like for anyone to touch it.
Mental: He relies too heavily on instincts in battle, moreso than Iris! Iris can come up with clever strategies, but using less direct means of attack didn't really fit Dragonite's style, so he used to ignore her and go headlong into purely physical brawls that were far too risky (the worst was up against Piloswine, an Ice Type Pokemon)! So, when he obeys Iris, this weakness is covered up, but on his own... yeah, this could end badly. Fortunately, he's ridiculously tough, so he might just make it out, but he could get himself badly hurt.
Emotional: He is rather immature about conveying his feelings and will pointedly ignore someone or use only appopriately "rough" methods of conveying approval and friendship (thumb's up, high-fives, a glance over the shoulder). Gotta look tough! He is VERY quick to anger and get into a fight.
If you want to see something funny, show him affection. He'll just awkwardly look off to the side and act like, yeah, well, he didn't ask you to be affectionate, but it's not like he's gonna stop you or anything! Like I said, tsundere toughguy.

Anything else?: If you do read that old application, I apologize for how confusing it must be, because I pretty much only watch the Japanese version and used Japanese names in that thing. I'm just trying to use English names here to match up with Cilan's roleplayer! I hope I didn't let slip any Japanese names in this application.

Iris will bring with her a change of clothes (oddly enough, it's a rather colourful shrine maiden's outfit... long story, it involves acting in movies and appeasing feuding Legendaries) and four apples.

Is Axew a pet? Her little Dragon Type Pokemon with the nature of an overly curious toddler will accompany her!

SAMPLES

First Person:

Hey, is this thing on?

Ax-yuyew?

C'mon! You've gotta work! Hey, if you can see or hear this, this is Iris!

Axew axew!

Right, and Axew. Only Axew. All my other Pokemon are missing! [She sounds distraught, then annoyed.] Look, if I find out who's behind this, you're in for the Dragon Rage of a century! You hear me?! You. Will. Pay!

This better not be another one of Team Rocket's schemes!

[And after that, she goes quiet for a moment. There's a tiny scuffling sound a questioning "axew?" before she proceeds in a relatively quieter, slightly embarassed way:]

... if you're not the ones responsible, sorry about that. I just really want to find my Pokemon and then, maybe, where I am? Look, the last thing I remember is that we were on a train to Johto... oh, I was riding with Cilan! Can you help me find my friend?

You can't miss him! He's got green hair that sticks up at the front, kinda like lettuce leaves, and he's pretty reliable, but he has this really annoying second personality that shows up whenever he gets excited!

... why aren't you saying anything?

Maybe this thing really is busted, Axew. Or maybe... maybe we've been abducted by vengeful spirits!

[Axew makes a terified sound, prompting Iris to shush him.] Sorry, sorry, it's okay!

Maybe not vengeful, just lonely. It would explain the weird things happening, though! Y'know what? If Cilan were around, right about now, he'd say something like:

[In a snobby, over-the-top parody of Cilan's voice:]
An interesting Hippopotas, Iris— [Did you mean "hypothesus?"] But unfortunately, this tastes scientifically impossible!

I would know, because I've cooked scientifically impossible things. I am a leading expert in cooking ideas!
[Axew starts to laugh, which seems to satisfy Iris.] There, feeling better? Let's keep looking for the others.

Third Person: Iris made a discontented sound. She was just starting to wake up and she felt like she had fallen alseep on some really nasty twigs with knobbly bits digging into her shoulder blades and neck.

"Ugh..."

Axew made a small sound from her hair, "Axew-yew?"

"Good morning," Iris groaned before moving away from what she decided to be the most uncomfortable sleeping spot ever. This alleviated the uncomfortable, walnuts-digging-into-bone feeling, but the twigs still felt like they were stuck to her. Almost like a part of her.

She reached back in annoyance to pull at them, but yelped in surprise and fear when she felt herself pulling on her own body; no, not almost, they really were a part of her!

"Axew!" she whispered urgently. "There's something— something on my back! Get it off!"

Axew snapped fully awake, following Iris' command, quickly crawling through her hair to get to her back, before shouting in alarm, "AAAXEW!"

"... what do you mean, wings?!"

"A-axe! Axew-yew!" Axew hopped out of her hair, onto the grass, quickly scrambling over the tree roots to stand in front of his stunned trainer. The little green dragon fluttered its claws, before bringing its forepaws back over its shoulders.

She was confused and petrified, but the only expression she could manage was a wide-eyed, disbelieving smile. "... you've gotta be kidding me."

Iris sprung to her feet, startling when she felt the small wings unfurl, fanning out on either side. To illustrate this, Axew flapped his arms frantically. "AXEWEW!"

Iris froze in fear, before slowly, hesitantly reaching out to touch her right wing.

Feathers.

She pulled one, too confused to wince at the pain that she shouldn't be feeling, and brought it numbly into her range of vision: the glossy feather was a dark purple colour that mached her hair perfectly.

The absurdity of the situation mounting so she could no longer deny it, she screamed at the unfamiliarity of her own body.
